Wilson is named after G H Wilson, an early land holder in the area.
Settlement of the area dates from 1829 when the first land grant was made.
Population was minimal until the 1890s.
Significant development did not occur until the 1950s, when public housing construction commenced and land was subdivided.
The population increased from the mid 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
