Singleton is a developing residential area. 
 
Singleton is bounded by Turtle Bend, Lowlands Crescent, Three Bears Loop, the suburb of Secret Harbour, Elwell Street and Greeson Parkway in the north, Mandurah Road in the east, the City of Mandurah in the south and the Indian Ocean in the west. 
 
Singleton is named after Captain Francis Corbet Singleton, a member of the first Board of Road Directors in the area. 
 
Settlement of the area dates from the late 1830s. 
 
Population was minimal until the 1950s. 
 
Significant development did not occur until the 1980s, with growth particularly in Golden Bay. 
 
Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s, with the population more than doubling between 1991 and 2006, a result of new dwellings being added to the area. 
 
Major features of the area include Singleton Beach, Golden Bay Beach, Golden Bay Foreshore Park, Singleton Foreshore Reserve, Laurie Stanford Reserve and one school.
