Osborne Park is an established residential and industrial area, with industry located generally in the west and south.
Osborne Park is bounded by the Mitchell Freeway, Hutton Street, Hamilton Street and North Beach Drive in the north, Main Street and Garner Lane in the east, Scarborough Beach Road, the Mitchell Freeway, Pollard Street, Harborne Street, Parkland Road and Jon Sanders Drive in the south and Stephensons Avenue in the west.
Osborne Park is named after William Osborne, an early landowner.
Settlement of the area dates from 1840 when the first land grant was made.
Growth was minimal until the late 1800s and early 1900s, with land used mainly for market gardens.
Significant residential development occurred during the post-war years, accompanied by industrial growth.
Rapid residential growth took place from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The population has been relatively stable since the mid 1990s, a result of some new dwellings being added, but a decline in average household size.
A major feature of the area is Osborne Primary School.
