Property Management Orelia - Perth - Suburb Profile
Orelia is a predominantly residential area.
Orelia is bounded by Thomas Road in the north, the southern border of Wildflower Reserve and Durrant Avenue in the east, Sulphur Road in the south, and Gilmore Avenue in the west.
Orelia is named after a ship which brought settlers to the Swan River Colony in 1829.
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming.
Significant development did not occur until 1952, when public housing was constructed to complement nearby industrial growth.
Rapid growth took place from the mid 1960s into the mid 1970s.
The population increased substantially from the mid 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area, particularly from the Windsor Hills Estate in the north.
In recent years there has been a significant decrease in the proportion of public housing, and considerable renewal and refurbishment of dwellings.
Major features of the area include Challenger TAFE (Kwinana Automotive Campus), Orelia Shopping Centre, Hennessy Park, Littlemore Park, Orelia Oval, Partridge Park, Sandringham Park, Wildflower Reserve and two schools.
