Orange Grove is a predominantly rural area.
Orange Grove is bounded by the Shire of Kalamunda in the north and east, Canning Mills Road, Brockway Road, Chevin Road and the City of Armadale in the south, and the Canning River, Station Street, Mills Road West, Gosnells Road West and the Tonkin Highway in the west.
Orange Grove was named to describe the area as it once was – full of orange orchards.
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used for orchards, market gardens, poultry farms, quarries and brickworks.
Population was minimal until the 1970s.
The population has been relatively stable since the early 1990s, a result of some new dwellings being added to the area, but a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
Major features of the area include Gosnells Regional Open Space, Ellis Brook Valley Reserve, Kelvin Road Parklands Rehabilitation Project, Orange Grove Oval, Quarry Park, Wrights Brook Region Open Space, Bickley Brook Reservoir, Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp, Orange Grove Shooting Complex, Gosnells Quarry, Jadran Winery, Cohunu Koala Park and a number of schools.
