Madeley is an industrial and rapidly developing residential area.
Madeley is bounded by Ocean Reef Road in the north, Sydney Road, Gnangara Road, Hartman Drive and Skeit Road in the east, Hepburn Avenue in the south and Wanneroo Road, Whitfords Avenue and the City of Joondalup in the west.
Madeley was named after a former Wanneroo Road Board Member and landowner in the area.
Settlement of the area dates from the early 1900s, with land used mainly for market gardens and plant nurseries.
Significant development did not occur until the late 1970s.
The population was minimal until the late 1990s.
Rapid growth took place between 2001 and 2006, a result of a large number of new dwellings being added to the area.
Major features of the area include Yellagonga Regional Park, Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex (including Kingsway Indoor Stadium), Kingsway City Shopping Centre, Wanneroo Markets and Amstel Park.
