Property Management Kenwick - Perth - Suburb Profile
Kenwick is a residential and rural area, with rural areas generally in the north, residential areas generally in the south, and some industrial land use in the far south.
Kenwick is bounded by the Shire of Kalamunda
in the north, the Tonkin Highway and the suburb of Maddington
in the east, Austin Avenue and the Canning River in the south, and the railway line in the west. Kenwick is named after an early property in the area called “Kenwick Park”.
Settlement of the area dates from the 1850s, with land used mainly for farming.
Significant development did not occur until the post-war years, with rapid growth from the 1950s through to the late 1990s.
The population was relatively stable between 2001 and 2006, a result of some new dwellings being added to the area, but a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
Major features of the area include Brixton Street Wetlands, Kenwick & Districts Recreation Centre, Shaolin Temple, Kenwick Pioneer Cemetery, Packer Park, parklands along the Canning River and a number of schools.
