Hocking is a rapidly developing residential area.
Hocking is bounded by Elliot Road in the north, Lenore Road in the east, Ocean Reef Road in the south and Wanneroo Road in the west.
Hocking is named after Herbert Hocking, an original landowner and former chairman of the Wanneroo Road Board.
Settlement of the area dates from the early 1900s, with land used mainly for market gardens.
Significant development did not occur until the 1980s.
Rapid growth took place from the mid 1990s, with the population increasing five-fold between 1996 and 2006, a result of new dwellings being added to the area, particularly in the Belvedere Hills estate.
Major features of the area include Amery Park, Bembridge Park and Gungurru Park.
