A small, geographically constrained suburb in the Logan City local government area, Hillcrest is bounded by the interstate rail line and the Mt Lindesay highway and is a little over 30 minute drive south of the Brisbane CBD.
Developed mostly in the early 1980s, the majority of properties are three-bedroom brick-and-tile homes favoured by families.

First home buyers have moved into the area to snap up affordable homes and prices have experienced solid growth.
There are no schools or retail facilities in the suburb itself and residents, however major shopping facilities are located in nearby Browns Plains. Schools are also in nearby suburbs including four primary an done high school.
The athletics park and water park in Regents Park is a local source of entertainment as well as the Greenbank RSL.

Commuters to the city are well catered for with a park n ride facility located near the RSL, with a number of bus services going direct to the city.Brisbane City council have been upgrading such facilities in recent years, with the Hillcrest park n ride earmarked for a further upgrade to allow for more commuter carparks. There is also a major bus interchange located at the shopping centre in Browns Plains.
