Darch is named after the Darch family, early landowners in the area.
Settlement of the area dates from 1860, with land used mainly for market gardens.
Significant development did not occur until the late 1990s.
The population was minimal until 2001.
Rapid growth took place between 2001 and 2006, a result of a large number of new dwellings being added to the area.
Major features of the area include Landsdale Park and a number of schools.
