Property Management Canning Vale - Perth - Suburb Profile
Canning Vale is a recent residential area, with industrial areas in the north, and some commercial land use.
Canning Vale is bounded by the Roe Highway in the north and west, Nicholson Road, the railway line, the City of Gosnells and Nicholson Road in the east, and Acourt Road, Johnston Road and Clifton Road in the south.
Part of the suburb of Canning Vale is located in the City of Gosnells.
Canning Vale is named for its location – a low lying area near the Canning River, which was named after George Canning, former Prime Minister of Great Britain.
It was originally known as North Jandakot.
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for dairy farming and market gardening.
Population was minimal until the late 1980s, following industrial development in the 1970s.
Rapid residential growth took place from the early 1990s, with the population increasing from about 500 in 1991 to 9,000 in 2006, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area.
Major features of the area include Market City, Livingston Marketplace, Swan Brewery, Canning Vale Country Club, Canning Vale Community Centre, State Swim Canning Vale, Canning Vale Oval, Canning Vale Gardens, Clifton Park, Karri Park, Kinnerton Gardens, Market City Park, Ranford Oval, Ranford Road Parklands, St Michaels Park, Waratah Pak, Woodhouse Park and two schools.
