Camillo is a residential and rural area with substantial growth expected in the next decade. 
Camillo is bounded by the Tonkin Highway in the north, the Albany Highway in the east, Westfield Road, Champion Drive and Lake Road in the south and Ranford Road in the west. 
Camillo (formerly Westfield) is named after the child of Gertrude Seeligson, an early property owner. 
Settlement of the area dates from mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming. 
Growth took place in the late 1800s and early 1900s, spurred by the construction of the railway line. 
Significant development did not occur until the 1960s. 
Champion Lakes has been identified as a location for regional scale recreational facilities with a water-based focus, including an international standard rowing course and a white-water canoeing/rafting facility. 
It is anticipated that there will also be commercial and residential development. 
The population has declined since the early 1990s, a result of little change in dwelling stock, a decline in average household size and an increase in vacancy rates. 
Population growth is expected in the future, primarily from the Landcorp Champion Lakes development. 
Major features of the area include Champion Lakes Recreational Park, Wright Lake, Westfield Heron Reserve, Palomino Reserve, Westfield Shopping Centre and a number of schools.
