History:

                Balmoral is a Brisbane suburb that experienced a very slow start. Due to the fact that no bridge over the Brisbane River was constructed until 1856, the area was limited to a small handful of early settlers, who established a number of farms on the estates of the time. In the 1880s, a local land rush supported the growth of the Balmoral area, creating a number of residential subdivisions as well as the construction of a number of industries.

                The advent of electrical power to the area in 1926 also helped to stimulate the area’s population. Throughout the next two decades, housing and development increased, especially following the close of WWII, as a number of families settled into the area to begin families. The area has continued to grow and modernize, and is now the home of a great many fantastic homes.

At only 9 km outside Brisbane’s CBD, the local transit system supports a number of options for local bus routes. These include the 235 and 232, which provide trip times between 35 and 45 minutes. A number of nearby thoroughfares also provide access to every part of Brisbane and the surrounding area within a short amount of time.

Famous Landmarks:

                Throughout its region, Balmoral has a variety of points of interest and historical landmarks scattered throughout its area. Included among these are the well-maintained parks and Comslie Reserve, including the bridges across the Brisbane River built and developed to aid the area’s early development. A number of churches and schools in the area also have historical significance, including the Sts Peter and PaulCatholic Churches, erected in the late 1800s.

                Balmoral has a wide selection of lively cafés and restaurants nestled throughout its area. The cuisine offered is exquisite and includes Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Indian and many others to feed every taste and craving. The area also supports a number of delicious and irresistible bakeries. Balmoral also provides quick access to the West End and central Brisbane restaurant districts, providing an endless variety of choices for everyone.

                Balmoral and the surrounding areas are serviced by a number of schools and colleges providing solutions for every level of educational need. These include the Bulimba State primary, Balmoral State High School, and two colleges- the Lourdes Hill College and Cannon Hill Anglican College.
