Ashby is bounded by the southern edge of the Pineview Lifestyle Village, Watkins Loop, the southern edge of Ashley Park and Conti Road in the north, Pinjar Road, Caporn Street, the suburb of Wanneroo and Griffiths Road in the east, Dundebar Road, Senario Drive, Cafaggio Crescent, Servite Terrace and the northern edge of St Anthonys Primary School in the south and Wanneroo Road in the west.
Ashby is named after E E Ashby, an original landowner.
Settlement of the area dates from the early 1900s, with land used mainly for grazing and market gardening.
Significant development did not occur until 2001.
Rapid growth took place between 2001 and 2006, with the population increasing six-fold, a result of a large number of new dwellings being added to the area.
