History:

                Alexandra Hills, a suburb approximately 20 km outside of Brisbane, is a later postwar development . A number of estates were divided in the 1960s, and led to a significant spur in the rapid growth of the area. By 1976, Alexandra Hills had become one of the most in demand regions, growing to include a TAFE campus, a wide variety of residential neighborhoods and stores.

                A number of amenities were also developed in response to the rapid increase of residents. American comedienne Phyllis Diller opened the area’s drive in shopping center. In addition, a wide variety of conservation parks, schools, a hotel on Finucane Road were also opened, providing a wide variety of fun for Alexandra Hills residents.

Real Estate and Design:

                Alexandra Hills has a wide variety of real estate to offer. The area supports a large number of single homes with smaller percentages of units and townhomes. A variety of styles are also available, ranging from weatherboard and brick homes to larger, more upscale modern architecture on many Alexandra Hills’ cul-de-sacs. This makes the area  a very popular place for many working families on the east side of Brisbane.

                At approximately 20 km outside of central Brisbane, Alexandra Hills provides an excellent suburb for one to remain close to the city while also having a more relaxed and calm surrounding. The Brisbane transit system has a number of different options for routes between the CBD and Alexandra Hills. The N250 Nighlink offers a nonstop trip at about 51 minutes, while the Cleveland, P88 and 130 Parkinson Bus all offer options to transfer to another bus system mid journey with rough trip times of about 45 minutes to an hour.

Famous Landmarks:

                A number of locations around Alexandra Hills are full of historical significance. The Vienna Woods estate and Finucane Road both have a number of points that were critical in the development of the Alexandra Hills development. A colonial style hotel on Finucane Road was also erected in 1988 as a tribute to the history of the area.

Restaurants and Cafés:

                As Alexandra Hills is a relatively large district, there are a number of restaurants and cafés dotted throughout the area number of fresh food markets add to the popular restaurants serving Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Thai cuisine.  The area also has a wide selection of other cuisines to fit every taste and desire.

Schools, Education & Institutions:

                Alexandra Hills has an excellent selection of schools.  Two primary state schools, a Catholic primary school and a state high school are all very close and provide excellent education options for all the local families. All the schools are also very well updated, and have been modernized from their original construction from the 1970s to 1980s.
