THE Brook Bar and Bistro in Ellenbrook has won the Best Bistro Award and the Hotel Innovation Award at the Australian Hotels Association WA awards for excellence in its first year of operation.

Business manager Matt Steinhoff said winning the awards was great recognition for staff in producing good service and great food.

As a business, getting good recognition in your first year means you are doing the right thing, he said.

So, if you've got the right people cooking food, serving food, and we've got good quality from our suppliers to be able to produce that food or serve that drink, it's the customers who benefit, he said.

Now the news is out about the award, we hope it makes more people want to come and check us out.

It creates prestige; people want to know why someone has voted for us.

The Brook Bar and Bistro is a modern venue with a 200-seat bistro, a TAB, two 65-inch plasma TVs, a relaxing lounge bar and two beer gardens.

The venue is designed for customers to meander through the entire premises.

Mr Steinhoff said it had three zones, offering guests different options depending on their mood.

The bistro dining area features classic black and white decor.

Seating is in tiers and staggered in height, which provides a view across the entire room.

AHA WA chief executive Brad Woods said the standards of the hospitality industry had never been as high.

Consumers expect quality hospitality venues, with an international range of services and products, he said.

These are the most prestigious awardsfor the industry and I would like to congratulate all our winners.
